MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

Position: Within this position, the selected applicant can expect to have the opportunity to work firsthand with a wide array of digital media marketing and communications efforts, including, but not limited to: email marketing campaigns; eNewsletter and print newsletter development and distribution; social media marketing; infographic creation; community and donor outreach efforts; event promotion; and website maintenance. This position is a summer internship, with the potential to extend into the fall semester. Interns will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the Mercy Health Clinic, located in Gaithersburg, Maryland, though part-time telecommuting may be an option if necessary. The expected time commitment for the summer is 3 days per week. This position is open to offering college class credit. This position will report to the Director of Development.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for regular posts to organization’s Facebook page and other social media engagement
  • Website maintenance and updating on regular basis (using WordPress format)
  • Development and distribution of email marketing campaigns
  • eNewsletter development (including writing and/or compiling material) and distribution
  • Print newsletter development (including writing and/or compiling material)
  • General administrative responsibilities as needed
  • Special projects as they may arise

Requirements:

Education:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related discipline; Public Health communications experience a plus

Technical:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced knowledge of social media platforms (primarily Facebook)
  • Basic knowledge of WordPress and email marketing programs (e.g. Vertical Response) a plus
  • Strong writing and copy editing skills
  • Ability to work both autonomously and in a collaborative team environment
