In June 2021, Mercy officially expanded our services to include patients ages 13–17. This new adolescent medicine program will provide healthcare for 300 youth, ages 13-17, for whom Mercy is their primary medical provider. Additionally, Mercy serves as a secondary healthcare provider for students served by school-based health and wellness centers at four local schools (Gaithersburg, Seneca Valley and Watkins Mill high schools, Gaithersburg Middle School and Summit Hall Elementary School) when these school buildings are closed or when school is not in session.

Our adolescent program goals are to help youth develop healthy habits as they transition into adulthood, increase access to critically-needed behavioral health support and services, and reduce gaps in healthcare access when schools are not in session.

Eligible youth may qualify for the program by either participating in one of the school based health/ wellness centers at the partner schools mentioned above or by qualifying for the Care for Kids Program through Montgomery County. This program is a partnership with Montgomery County Government, the Primary Care Coalition and community healthcare providers like Mercy Health Clinic.
